Are YOU a CLEAN patriot ??
Savithramma , all of fifty years , squats on the floor , trying her best to separate out dry waste from mounds of mixed unsegregated garbage, piled in a waste segregation center in Bengaluru. Unperturbed by the mosquitoes breeding on the pile or the smell emanating from it , she goes about her task mechanically without wearing safety mask, glove or any other protection gear.
This is the story of thousands of POURAKARMIKAS in the city of Bengaluru , who earn their livelihood by collecting waste from households , cleaning streets , segregating them at the collection centers under inhumane conditions.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE ??
We, the proud PATRIOTS of this country ?? BBMP , the government body responsible for waste management in the city?? The POURAKARMIKAS themselves, for choosing to take up the sacred job of cleaning the country ??
Sadly, the proud PATRIOTS of this country, who go on social media and rate Swacch Bharat Mission to be the biggest initiative launched by the central government and talk at length about the need for a cleaner India, fail to even segregate their waste at their household , lets not even talk about cleaning the streets. Without 100% segregation at the source , any solid waste management model breaks down , without even taking off.
The corruption ridden BBMP , needs to do a clean up act within itself , before it can dream of solving the two decade old problem.
If not for the perseverance and patience shown by the pourakarmikas everyday , the state of solid waste management in the city would only be under more distress.
WHY BECOME A CLEAN PATRIOT ??
Do you want to serve your country from the confines of your household??.
This simple act of segregating at your house, can help Savithramma and the numerous other pourakarmikas in leading a happy and a healthy life.
This simple act can solve the root cause of the waste management problem and initiate a chain of efficient solutions in the model.
This simple act can actually strike out the excuses put forth by the government body in failing to manage waste and put pressure on them, to come up with a sustainable model.
HOW TO BECOME ONE ??
All it takes is to install color-coded bins (RGB) in the house , Red for reject waste , Green for food waste and Blue for Dry waste - more details in the below pictures.Ensure that plastic covers or newspapers are entirely cleared of any left-over food before they are thrown into blue colored dustbin. Reject waste such as blades, napkins, etc.. must be wrapped in paper and thrown into the red colored bin , so that waste collectors can handle these wastes cautiously.
THE MANTRA IS SIMPLE - "LETS SEGREGATE 100% TODAY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW".
