KICK THAT BUTT...QUIT SMOKING..its now or never!!!!

A friend of mine suggested me to read " MILLION LITTLE PIECES".A totally f****d up novel,where in the protagonist smokes dope @the age of 12.By 13,was smoking and drinking regularly.Tries cocaine,crystal meth @ 15. Drank and did drugs everyday,at school,at home,everywhere.Completely addicted to any form of drug or alcohol @18.No wonder he blacked out everyday post the age of  20...The most fascinating part of the novel is he becomes completely sober @ 24 only after his stint in a rehab for 6 weeks,where he was told he could either STOP using or DIE!!!

In a not so intense story a close friend of mine started smoking @ the age of 18.This did not go well with me as I have always deterred smoking.I then took to the task of  helping him in giving up smoking forever.For 2 straight years our efforts went futile-He used to give up on smoking for a day or two and then it was back to square one.Only when i came across this novel did i understand what it is to be an "ADDICT",what  it takes to give up something which you cant resist but consume.Armed with this knowledge we began with the process of de-addiction afresh..We came off with flying colors as he cut down on the number of cigarettes-per-day from 10 to 3 in a couple of months and eventually QUIT  SMOKING....:) :) :)..

 There is no future,happiness,excitement in being an ADDICT.There is only an overwhelming obsession.
Once you quit you will be stronger than you will ever be.Make that simple decision now-Y OR N ??????

SIX STEPS TO REDEMPTION

STEP 1 :Accept the FACT that you are an ADDICT.

STEP 2: Confide in a close friend and speak to him/her  frequently regarding your issues,the no of cigarettes you have cut down and planning to cut down with each coming day etc..Set a date,inform your friends and loved ones about your decision to quit and the steps you are going to take to do so...

STEP 3: The only way to do away with a bad habit  is to shift your focus onto a good one.
For example:Read a book that speaks to you,makes sense to you.
exercise,cycle,write down your ambitions and shift your focus in achieving them.

STEP 4:  Always keep a photo of  black lungs.The moment you get that overwhelming urge to fag,take a look at it.Think hard about the effect a piece of crap can have on your internal organs,your ambitions,your life...Remember HEALTH IS WEALTH..


STEP 5: Be careful of linking yourself with people who smoke,stay away from places where they are done and be on constant alert..Remember de-addiction cannot be achieved in a day or two.The moment you are completely absolved from the chemical-you will be stronger,happier and more importantly healthier than you've ever been.


STEP 6:Every time you think of doing drugs,make the decision not to do them,keep making that decision until its no longer a decision,but a way of life!!!!!!!!
